About

An independent publication on AI and capital markets across Africa and Asia, written by a practitioner building in the space.

About

Frontier Finance AI is an independent publication on AI and capital markets across Africa and Asia's emerging markets. It launched in June 2026 with a simple premise: the most important questions about AI in finance are being answered in places most commentary ignores.

Why this exists

Most writing on AI in finance assumes deep data, settled regulation and mature capital markets. Across much of Africa and Asia, none of those can be taken for granted. Credit histories are thin, rules are still being drafted, and SMEs that drive these economies struggle to reach investors at all.

That is not a lesser version of the problem. It is the real one. Frontier Finance AI exists to analyse it properly: what regulators are actually doing, what the global indices say and miss, and what building AI for these markets teaches you.

What you can expect

  • Practitioner analysis, not hype. Every piece is grounded in primary sources: regulatory texts, index methodologies and industry studies.
  • An emerging-markets lens. Africa and Asia are the starting point, not a footnote.
  • One sharp piece a week. Free, straight to your inbox.

About me

Mwongeli Kiamba

I'm Mwongeli Kiamba, based in Nairobi. I work at Capital Connect Africa, digital capital-raising infrastructure connecting SMEs and investors across African markets, where I lead grants work and build Lara, an AI financial analyst that helps SMEs become investor-ready.

I studied Finance and Economics at USIU-Africa, and I'm a member of the A&A Collective, a network of junior investment professionals in Africa's tech and investment ecosystem. Before finance, I founded and ran MOST Apparel, a Nairobi fashion brand, which taught me first-hand what it takes for a small business to grow and raise capital.

The views here are my own and do not represent any organisation I work with.
